The mid-term elections are here and several senate seats are up for grabs. The battle between Missouri Senator Claire McCaskill and Attorney General Josh Hawley has captured the nation’s attention, including President Donald Trump’s. Trump was in Missouri earlier this week stumping for Hawley in a state he won walking away in 2016. However, McCaskill used the big stage to throw Senator Maria Chappelle-Nadal under bus; earlier this week McCaskill called Chappelle-Nadal a “crazy democrat”:

The crazy democrats are the people who walk in restaurants and scream in elected officials’ faces … We have A state senator here in Missouri who actually advocated for the assassination of President Trump. That’s a crazy democrat. I don’t do those things. I am not someone who thinks that we should ever be uncivil.
The attack against Chappelle-Nadal left many in the democratic party and the nation bewildered. The Shock Exchange originally surmised McCaskill was trying to curry favor with conservative voters in rural Missouri. After more thought, it was likely the video from Chappelle-Nadal’s appearance at Trump And The GE that sent McCaskill into an uncontrollable fury.
