A third factor was the charge call made against Tech point guard Justin Robinson with less than 1:30 left in the game. Robinson drove to his left and finished amid contact. He cut the game to 2 points and appeared to be going for an And-1. However, the official called him for a charge though the defender appeared to only be stationary – deep in the paint – after Robinson was on the way down. It was a terrible call. You just do not make a call like that with less than two minutes left to decide the game.
That was the lick that killed poor dick. Tech coach Seth Greenberg got a technical foul protesting the call and the rest is history. Controversy? Isn’t that’s what March Madness is all about?
