As claims of antisemitism swirled around the presidents of the University of Pennsylvania, Harvard and MIT, Christopher Rufo and Chris Brunet presented evidence on social media that Harvard president, Claudine Gay, appeared to have plagiarized material for her Ph.D. dissertation. The claims indicated Gay may have plagiarized repeatedly from various scholars in her field without proper citation.
The news went viral on Twitter and was welcomed by people who standing for truth and honor, who had an axe to grind with Harvard and Gay, or all of the above. The news also made Rufo a hot commodity, receiving likes and retweets from hedge fund titan Bill Ackman. The Shock Exchange applauds Rufo and Brunet for their investigative journalism and the willingness to speak truth to power.
Rufo: On Sunday I broke the story of the Claudine Gay plagiarism scandal … Then the great reporter Aaron Sibarium broke additional instances of plagiarism at the Washington Free Beacon. And now three professors have come forward alleging that Gay stole from their work to varying degrees of severity. We’re talking about a large portion of all of her published papers, which are actually very few in number …
The twist is that if she were a run of the mill university president she would have been out yesterday, but Harvard as decided that because of her race, because of her gender, and more importantly because of her politics they have to do everything they can to save her. They’ve lost reportedly a billion dollars in donations, but that’s all worth it because she is the great totem, the great avatar of left wing identity politics … Harvard has abandoned its classical model, “veritas,” meaning “truth,” all for racial politics. This is the story of our time …
Randon Guy From FOX: What does it mean for the country if Harvard has become a fraud?
Rufo was on a roll there for a while. He got in front of those cameras, waxed poetic and then pulled up from half court. Some would call that a “heat check.” His claim that “This is the story of our time” is complete silliness. There’s a plagiarism scandal that could potentially make Claudine Gay and Harvard look like girl scouts. Chris Rufo and the Random Guy From FOX need to get out more.
