The biggest story in college football this year has been Clemson’s benching of Kelly Bryant and replacing him with freshman Trevor Lawrence. Bryant was heavily recruited out of the state of South Carolina. He sat behind Deshaun Watson for two years and when he got his shot, led Clemson to the BCS in what was supposed to be a rebuilding year. What was his reward?
Kelly called the benching a slap in the face by Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney. He was right. Heading into the Syracuse came last week Clemson had not beaten a ranked opponent.
