Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence had his debut as the starting quarterback against the Syracuse Orangemen. Coach Dabo Sweeney replaced former QB Kelly Bryant for no reason, and he now has his wish. He is stuck with Lawrence and backup Chase Bryce. Syracuse promised to punish Lawrence and they delivered as promised. With about 5 minutes left in the first half Lawrence scrambled out of the pocket, tipped down the sidelines, dived for extra yards and was cracked by Syracuse defensive back Evan Foster. The Clemson faithful nearly had a heart attack.
