At the 7 minute mark Kevin Hart gets some things off his chest:

You don’t realize when I preach about the crabs in the barrel mentality that eventually we have to take responsibility for our actions … My frustration with Katt Williams comes from you keep pointing at Hollywood. Hollywood this … the white man … You were the guy. You were set up to be the star. You didn’t show up to work. You f*cked off promo shoots. You f*cked off the promo events they had set up for you. You became a risk to the studios which is why the studios stopped f*cking with you.

He chose drugs. Take responsibility for what you chose .. When you say Tiffany Haddish doesn’t deserve or isn’t a real comedienne and these other women have worked hard … I’ve used my platform to bring my guys and girls up … Take responsibility for what you did. You f*cked you.

Katt Williams simply said Tiffany Haddish had not proven she can tell jokes back-to-back for an hour. He implied that being funny in a movie does not make one a comedian. Kevin Hart never addressed Katt’s comments directly. His references to “crabs in a barrel” is sort of a cliche. When Eminem and MGK go at it in a rap battle it’s simply competition. No one makes a reference to hating.

Secondly, Hart’s reference to “the white man” appears to be a dog whistle to those who control the entertainment industry. “I’m a ‘safe negro’ and Katt Williams is not.” What does that have to do with being funny or being on top of one’s craft? Lastly, it is obvious Katt’s not “safe.” Why else would Wanda Smith’s husband, LaMorris Sellers, roll up on Katt (one man) with a gun and a full posse?
