President Trump is arguably the most-polarizing figure ever in the White House; he seems to revel in that distinction. He call NFL players “sons of bitches” and suggested there were good people on both sides of the rumble in Charlottesville. That said, parsing Trump, calling Trump a racist or a bigot, or “resisting Trump” has become a sure fire way of attention for celebrities, politicians and activists. It has also become big business for the media willing to give these people a platform.
Recently Ebro Darden, Peter Rosenberg and Laura Stylez of Hot 97’s Ebro In The Morning, were recently on MSNBC’s The Beat with Ari Melbi. The discussion was all over the place. The conversation began with Kim Kardashian’s recent visit with President Trump to help secure a pardon for Alice Johnson. Johnson was a former drug dealer given life in prison for her role in a Memphis cocaine trafficking organization. Ebro checked Melbi immediately, exclaiming the just because Kim is married to hip hop artist Kanye West does not make her “hip hop.”
