The Florida Sate Seminoles lost to the Michigan Wolverines in the Elite 8 Saturday night 58-54. The win sent Michigan to the NCAA Finals against the winner the Villanova, Texas Tech, Duke and Kansas bracket game. Florida State was down by nearly double-digits with less than three minutes to go. Michigan controlled the tempo and seemingly had the game in hand. The Seminoles fought back valiantly. A Duncan Robinson free throw put the Wolverines up by four points with 22 seconds left. The Florida State forward took a 3-point shot in traffic that snuffed before he could get the shot off. That’s when the drama started.
Instead of fouling, Florida State let the clock run out and walked up with the loss. A few of the announcers mentioned they could have fouled to extend the game. After all, Michigan was not a good foul shooting team. During the post-game interview the first question CBS’s Dana Jacobson asked Coach Leonard Hamilton was “Why didn’t you foul?”
