Round two of the NCAA tourney pit the Kentucky Wildcats against the scrappy, well-coached Buffalo Bulls. Buffalo slapped the Arizona Wildcats in the first round. It was looking like upset city again as the Bulls hung with single-digits most of the game. Great guard play from Wes Clark and CJ Massinburg, and efficiency from beyond the arc will do that for you. However, Kentucky’s big guards – 6’5″ Hamidou Diallo and 6’4″ Shai Gilgeous Alexander – were too much.
In the first half Diallo dunked on Buffalo and mascot Victor E. Bull. It as a precursor of things to come as Diallo and Gilgeous-Alexander finished with 22 points and 27 points respectively. The Wildcats coasted to a 95-75 victory and will be headed to familiar territory – the Sweet 16.
