Wow … life comes at you fast. It seemed like only yesterday that Fulton County district attorney Fani Willis was a media darling after investigating former president Donald Trump for election interference. Today Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia filed a complaint accusing Willis and special prosecutor in the Trump investigation, Nathan Wade, of criminal misconduct:

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., filed a complaint Wednesday alleging criminal misconduct by the district attorney prosecuting former President Donald Trump and his co-defendants in the Georgia election interference case.

Greene, a vocal Trump ally, requested a criminal investigation into Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis and the prosecutor representing the DA’s office in the case after an attorney for Trump co-defendant Michael Roman, in a filing seeking dismissal of the charges, alleged that the two had an improper relationship — what Greene called an “illegal conflict of interest.”

The referral, submitted to Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp and Attorney General Chris Carr and first reported by NBC News, pertains to claims that Willis may have personally benefited by tapping special prosecutor Nathan Wade amid accusations that the two have traveled together to destinations such as the Napa Valley and the Caribbean.

The complaint was filed with Georgia Governor Brian Kemp and Attorney General Chris Carr. It stems from a legal brief filed by Trump co-defendant Michael Roman a few days ago. Roman and his legal counsel allege Willis and Wade are involved in a romantic relationship, Willis’s office paid Wade nearly a million dollars in legal fees that Wade used to wine and dine Willis with and take her on a cruise, and trips to Napa Valley and Florida. It could call into question a potential conflict of interest on Willis’s part and whether Wade is competent enough to litigate a federal case against the Donald.

Willis has a right to defend herself. She has yet to officially answer questions pursuant to any conflict of interest with hiring Wade or any potential romantic involvement. Greene’s complaint to Governor Kemp could put further spotlight on Willis and Wade and pressure Willis to respond more rapidly. Political operative Newt Gingrich has also floated the notion that Willis and Wade coordinated their efforts to prosecute Trump with the Biden administration. So many questions, so few answers … Willis may need to put that “black girl magic” to use.
