The public infighting by Missouri democrats makes for good theater, but it is highly-unusual. McCaskill went on to describe “crazy democrats” as uncivil and prefer shouting over civil discourse. In painting Chappelle-Nadal as anti-Trump she appears to be appealing to Trump supporters to vote for her over Josh Hawley.
Sections of Missouri are very conservative and every vote counts. McCaskill is pulling out all the stops, even if it means distancing herself from members of her own party. Her political life is on the line. President Trump is headed to Missouri to help Josh Hawley put an end to it. Trump won big in Missouri in 2016 and he will muster the full power of the presidency to help Hawley defeat McCaskill.
