Chappelle-Nadal filed a resolution to have Trump, and future presidential candidates, undergo a mental health evaluation:

Whether congress will pass the resolution remains to be seen. Based on Hawley’s response any resolution suggesting Trump is crazy could be seen as partisan, and face strong resistance from the republicans. Hawley implied Chappelle-Nadal and the media was making too much out of Trump’s tweets. However, the president has made a concerted effort to take the power out of the hands of the “fake news” by communicating via Twitter vis-à-vis press conferences, or through reporters. In effect, Trump’s tweets are equivalent to an official press release from former presidents Obama or Bush.
The statement from Hawley kills potentially kills two birds with one stone. It supports the Trump at what could be considered a low point for the president, and it claps back at Chappell-Nadal, a champion for the people and one of Missouri’s most effective politicians. Chappelle Nadal moved the crowd at Trump And The GE in Brooklyn last month where she stated the need to restore faith in the democratic party, voiced concerns over the Depression-like economy facing her district, and the need to resist Trump.
That said, Chappelle-Nadal’s reaction to an official position from the White House on relief efforts pursuant to Hurricane Maria is not noise. It sheds light on the president’s penchant for telling tall tales and talking reckless. It could also be at the center of whether the U.S. provides relief efforts to Puerto Rico on par with what it would provide to citizens on the mainland also devastated by natural disasters.
The questions now are, “How will Chappelle-Nadal respond to Hawley?” Secondly, “Can Hawley fight a war on two fronts – against McCaskill and Chappelle-Nadal?”
