You are not going to see too much emotion from our guy Bread … David Katz keeps to himself. He’s a man of business. He’s not here for the experience … He’s not here to make friends. He’s all business and to get him to open up about anything, it’s like pulling teeth man.
Had Katz previously demonstrated signs of anger or the tendency to become unhinged during or after a Madden contest? Probably. Did EA Sports care? Probably not. Contrast that to the company’s treatment of real NFL football player Colin Kaepernick. Earlier this month EA Sports EA Sports removed his name from a Big Sean verse for the Madden NFL 19 game. As a player Kaepernick has always been sportsmanlike and the consummate professional. Even his protest to bring attention to police misconduct was peaceful – he merely took a knee during the National Anthem.
Kaepernick’s actions have been peaceful and selfless, yet the NFL and EA Sports ostracized the man. Bread Katz’s actions were selfish, violent and child-like, yet EA Sports would rather associate its brand with Katz than Kaepernick. The difference is that white America was not offended by Katz. Instead of taking a stand EA Sports sided with the masses on the wrong side of history.
