Before the injury Cousins posted gaudy numbers for the Pelicans; he averaged 25.2 points, 12.9 rebounds and 5.4 assists while shooting 47% from the field and 35.4% from beyond the arc. Those numbers put him in rare company for centers. There also some chatter of him becoming an MVP candidate if he also helped lead the team into the playoffs. While Golden State brings in Cousins, it loses JaVale McGee to the Los Angeles Lakers. This is a major upgrade for the Warriors.
Cousins in expected to return to the court in December or January 2019. There is no rush though. The Warriors have won two of the last three NBA titles and swept the Cleveland Cavaliers this year. After signing Kevin Durant last season the Warriors are so stacked that they are the favorites to take the cake each year for the next three seasons; this is regardless of what anybody else does. Signing Cousins simply belabors the point – there is no reason for any other teams to even show up this year. It’s a wrap.
