Colin Kaepernick and Eric Reid kneel during the National Anthem

The U.S. is in a state of upheaval right now and the Shock Exchange and professional sports in right in the middle of it. Shock Exchange: How Inner-City Kids Predicted the Great Recession and the Pain Ahead laid out how social unrest would unfold in the America after the Financial Crisis of 2008. Now professional football players like Colin Kaepernick and Eric Reid are being blackballed for kneeling during the National Anthem. Kaeprnick has not played in the NFL for over a year now – a lifetime for a pro athlete.

According to OJ Simpson President Donald Trump was right – Kapernick made a mistake taking a knee during the National Anthem and disrespected the American Flag:

O.J. Simpson says he agrees with Donald TrumpColin Kaepernick “made a mistake” taking a knee during the national anthem … and completely disrespected the American flag.

“I think Colin made a mistake,” Simpson told The Buffalo News … “I really appreciate what he was trying to say. I thought he made a bad choice in attacking the flag.”

“I grew up at a time when deacons were in the KKK. I don’t disrespect the Bible because of those guys. The flag shouldn’t be disrespected because of what cops do. The flag represents what we want America to be.”

“When he did it the first time I thought, ‘Well, you took a gamble, and I give you credit.’ But it was him continuing to do it where he made the biggest mistake.”

“I’m a firm believer of doing what you think is right, but I would always stand for the flag.”

This should be of no surprise for those who have followed Simpson’s career for decades. In the 1960s pro athletes Jim Brown, Kareem Abdul Jabbar (then Lew Alcindor), Muhammad Ali, Bobby Mitch, et. al used their celebrity to fight for equal rights for African-Americans. Meanwhile, OJ refused to join their efforts because he didn’t want any controversy; it could have hurt his corporate image and cost OJ endorsement deals.
