‘Pharma Bro’ Martin Shkreli will be sentenced today by Judge Kiyo Matsumoto in Brooklyn on charges of securities fraud. He faces up to 15 years in prison. Shkreli sparked a public outcry for hiking the price of a life-saving AIDS drug by 5,000%. Prior to that he was ousted at Retrophin, a biotech company he founded, for bilking $11 million from the company. Monday a federal judge held him responsible for the theft. In the past the brash pharmaceutical tycoon made physical threats against Hillary Clinton and journalist Lauren Duca. They incidences will likely have an impact on the judge’s decision.

Facing the music for the first time, Shkreli didn’t seem so brash. He actually weeped in front of the judge:

Shkreli should cry. He is in big trouble. After all, he robbed the rich and there is a big penalty for that in the U.S. Look what happened to Bernie Madoff. He bilked thousands of wealthy investors and got 150 years in prison. When you rob the poor you get a bailout or a do over. Shkreli should have known better.
