Second year coach David Fizdale was fired Monday after the Memphis Grizzlies recorded their eight straight loss. The team is now 7-12 and with little hopes of making the playoffs with point guard Mike Conley sidelined with an achilles injury. Fizdale benched Marc Gasol in the fourth quarter of his last game as coach. Some believe Gasol went to management and stabbed Fizdale in the back. LeBron James was in a state of shock and now Stephen Jackson is unhinged over the unfair dismissal:
I see they have fired Fiz. That was a fixed fight man. You can’t expect the coach to win with guys who don’t even care about the game. You get rid of Zach. You get rid of Tony Allen … you get rid of the dawgs … This game has done a lot for our lives. This game means something to us. When you trade guys like that you lose the heart of the team.
Marc Gasol is one of the top big men in the league, but you gotta remember you’ve got 7-footers in the league now that’s shooting 3’s … getting 10 assists, that’s getting triple doubles Marc … You’re at the bottom of the barrel right now … I say all that to say you can’t take Zach and Tony away and expect these guys to win. Ya’ll put Fizz in a bad spot … but we know what time it is. We know what’s going on. You’ve got players making a hundred million and averaging nine points.
“You got players making a $100 mill averaging 9 points”

Stephen Jackson keeps it official. Zach and Tony Allen were warriors. The Grizzlies could not beat the Warriors or the Spurs even with those guys. They needed a few more pieces if they wanted to contend for a title. Without them the Grizzlies likely will not make the playoffs and now Fizdale has to take the fall. The Shock Exchange couldn’t get away with those types of remarks about Gasol, but Jackson can. He played in the league, went to war in the league and won a chip. He might have tipped the Grizzlies’ hand as well. They likely think Gasol is the superstar he was four or five years ago. They sacrificed Zach and Tony for Gasol. They rolled the dice and lost.
The old adage still stands, “If it ain’t broke don’t fix it.” The Grizzlies appear to be a broken franchise without their heart and soul, and now they are a non-factor. Now Stephen Jackson is going to clown Memphis daily on ESPN. What free agents would even consider going there? Management is clueless. Let’s see how much fan support the team has with this poor product they’re putting on the floor?
On Trump And The Global Economy

The second installment of Trump And The Global Economy Town Hall took place October 24th in Fort Greene. It Featured Professor Lance Brofman, Coconut Rob (Coconut Rob Smoothies), Wuyi Jacobs (AfroBeats Radio) and Ralph Baker, author of Shock Exchange: How Inner-City Kids From Brooklyn Predicted the Great Recession and the Pain Ahead.
The event was well-received by the community. We parsed through President Trump’s proposed tax plan and [i] how it was pure economic folly and [ii] high net worth individuals could potentially game the system by shifting income around. Apparently, Kansas Coach Bill Self did this when the state of Kansas cut taxes in the past. We discussed the pros and cons of technology on workers and the economy. How will the economy and country prosper under Trump’s leadership vis-a-vis Obama? What’s behind the verbal sparring with black athletes, ESPN’s Jemele Hill and North Korea’s Kim Jong Un?
