Rapper Nelly was arrested Saturday on charges of sexual assault. A woman called 911 at 4am with allegations she was assaulted by a man on his tour bus:

Auburn police said a woman called 911 at 3:48 a.m. on Saturday to report that she was sexually assaulted. She said the rapper, whose real name is Cornell Iral Haynes, Jr., assaulted her on a tour bus parked on Outlet Collection Drive after his performance at the White River Amphitheater …

TMZ first reported the arrest. Nelly’s lawyer issued a statement to the website calling the allegations “completely fabricated.”

“Our initial investigation, clearly establishes the allegation is devoid of credibility and is motivated by greed and vindictiveness,” the statement said. “I am confident, once the scurrilous accusation is thoroughly investigated, there will be no charges. Nelly is prepared to pursue all all legal avenues to redress any damage caused by this clearly false allegation.”

Nelly was taken into custody and booked at a jail in Des Moines, Washington. His lawyer is saying the allegations are fabricated. The alleged assault took place on the tour bus parked outside of a Walmart after Nelly’s concert was over. The rapper is best known for his hit, “Country Grammar” which took the rap world by storm a very long time ago. It also put St. Louis and mid-west rappers on the map. Nelly is currently on tour with Florida/Georgia Line, a country pop duo consisting of vocalists Brian Kelley and Tyler Hubbard. Apparently the groups were performing at the White River Ampitheater in Auburn, Washington, a suburb of Seattle.

Reactions from rap fans were mixed:

Who can really what happens at 4am in Auburn, WA anyway? Who can really confirm what happens at 4am on a tour bus parked outside of Walmart. There had to have been witnesses on the tour bus and you bet Tyler and Brian of Florida/Georgia Line will be persons of interest.

Will they pull a Sargeant Schultz, “I see nothing … I hear nothing … I know nooothinnngg!” Will they distance themselves from Nelly and how will the allegations impact the tour. With all those people on the tour bus, you mean no one saw anything or heard anything. Secondly, if they did and remained silent then does that make them accomplices?
