According to Professor Lance Brofman, he would vote for Nixon if he did not have a rent-stabilized apartment in Brooklyn. At the 34 minute mark of the above video Professor Brofman explains his position:
In New York state we have a primary between Cuomo, the governor, and Cynthia Nixon. I would vote for Cynthia Nixon if I did not live in a rent stabilized apartment … Cuomo, if he wins, that’s the end of the thing. If Cynthia Nixon wins there’s a pretty good chance the republicans will take over the governorship and they want to get rid of rent stabilization. There are a lot of people in Brooklyn who wouldn’t be too happy with that.
Nixon could be the better candidate and the shot in the arm the democrats need. However, Cuomo could be the practical choice – he could be the best hope to beat the republicans and keep rent-stabilized apartments intact. This could get interesting.
