Below is the official statement from EA Sports regarding the matter:
“Members of our team misunderstood the fact that while we don’t have rights to include Colin Kaepernick in the game, this doesn’t affect soundtracks,” said EA Sports.
“We meant no disrespect, and we apologize to Colin, to YG and Big Sean, to the NFL, to all of their fans and our players for this mistake.”
In effect, EA Sports took it a step further by removing Kaepernick’s name. It appeared as if they wanted to be slick. Why (1) keep the song and (2) then remove Kaepernick’s name? It was bound to get out and cause some sort of controversy. When employees want to act goofy then they should be fired for it. We have yet to hear from EA Sports about who will lose their jobs over the insult.
