In mid-December the Shock Exchange noticed there sure was a lot of commentary on Twitter about Black Thought, lead MC for The Roots. There was constant chatter about his bars, and how the younger generation simply did not understand his lyricism. The Shock Exchange always knew Black Thought had bars, but he has never been a mainstream rapper. First of all, his music is not “dumbed down” and he makes you think. Secondly, the Roots have always dominated a niche space and rap, despite their cult following. Somehow, Black Thought was practically blowing up the Internet.

SE assumed the chatter was random. It took him a few days to realize what all the chatter was about. Black Thought just had gone on a 10 minute rampage … an assault with Funkmaster Flex at Hot 97, barely taking time to even come up for air.
