LeBron James discusses his I Promise School

Last year President Trump made a speech in Huntsville, AL where he pushed NFL owners to make those “sons a bitch players” stand for the flag or else. Trump suggested the San Francisco 49ers’ Colin Kaepernick, Eric Reid and others should be fired for disrespecting the flag. The fiery speech didn’t help Luther Strange defeat Roy Moore, but it did rally the president’s republican base. The Golden State Warriors’ Steph Curry and the Cleveland Cavaliers’ LeBron James went off on Trump. James suggested he was using sports to divide the country.

I’m just a little frustrated because this guy that we have put in charge is trying to divide us once again. We know what happened with Charlottesville and the divide that caused. Now it’s hitting more home to me now because he is using sports as the platform to try to divide us. We all know how much sports brings us together … how much passion it has … how much we love and care … the friendships that it creates and for him to try to use this platform to divide us even more is not something I can stand for, and it’s not something I can be quiet about.

Earlier this week James doubled down on his comments about the president.
